The fundamental strength of this project is that it presents an opportunity to engage in a commercial undertaking with excellent profits, and which also greatly benefits the local community. Jatropha curca has unique qualities and suitability for a major biodiesel project, namely:
Wasteland and mine reclamation and reforestation;
Income generation from previously unused or unusable areas;
Huge opportunities from new, sustainable and renewable land resources and crops;
Creating employment in nursery development, soil preparation,
irrigation systems, plantation maintenance, seedcollection, oil extraction and refinery control.
Each State will also benefit from the increased demand for employment in infrastructure, logistics and transportation;
Wide tolerance of varying climatic and soil conditions;
With its ability to produce fuel and energy,the project can rapidly become self-supporting in energy requirements for processing;
Virtually no waste or un-useable by-products because all products of the processing have sound markets.
